Dog Bites
Dog attacks represent some of the most gruesome personal injuries that are suffered, particularly where a 
child is involved (as is often the case).
Colorado has a strict liability dog bite statute that states that the owner of a "dangerous dog" is liable for damages inflicted by his/her dog if it bites a person. A dog is considered dangerous if it has inflicted bodily injury upon or has caused the death of a person or domestic animal, or has demonstrated tendencies that would cause a reasonable person to believe that the dog may inflict injury upon or cause the death of any person or domestic animal. C.R.S. § 18-9-204.5. In essence, the owner of a dangerous dog is an insurer of the dog.
